二、众所周知，苏联有个叫西伯利亚的地方。那里一年四季冰天雪地、荒无人烟、萧瑟凄凉，是专门用来流放犯人的。在我国古代尤其是唐宋两朝，这一带就是中原地区的“西伯利亚”，是封建王朝的流放地。为什么要选择这儿而不选择别处呢?因为这里交通闭塞，人烟稀少，瘟疫流行，常年干旱，天气酷热，环境极为恶劣。
三、唐宋两朝，许多被流放至此的人由于路途艰难，初到伊始，人地生疏、水土不服，加之情绪低落、悲观失望，极少有生还中原的。他们个个无不怀着走天涯、下海角的感受。“天涯海角”在他们看来，不仅仅是指地球的尽头，而且意味着人生末日的到来。难怪被流放至此的唐朝两度宰相李德裕称之为“鬼门关”。
他的全诗是：“一去一万里，千去千不还;
崖州在何处，生度鬼门关。”

这是我们沿海滩遇到的一个石刻，上面刻有“海判南天”，判在这里是什么意思呢?判为分开、分离、分辨的意思，可以认为南海与南天在此分开。如果我们一起背对着这块巨石，面朝着南还就能领悟到，也可以说大海把带和南天，隔开或分开。是否，也可以如此理解：大地，大海，和南天在此分开同时也是在此汇合。我们在回过头看看，这是谁题写的呢?是清康熙53年钦差大臣苗曹汤，巡边至此题刻，这时候天涯海角风景区目前发现的最早石刻。
往前走不出二十米米，在海边的一块巨石，就是举世文明的“南天一柱”石刻，“南天一柱” 的上款刻着，宣统元年四个小字，下款刻的是，“永安范云梯”字样。“宣统元年”也就是“公元1909年”，永安是地名，经考证是指“永安州”，也就是现在的广西贺州地区的锰山县。“范云梯” 是“南天一柱” 的题字作者。字步月，永安水窦村人。，出生于清同治二年，“范云梯”在海南为官前后十八年，宣统元年晚清朝廷腐败无能。外国列强纷至沓来，共同瓜分中国清朝处在内外交困，危机四伏，风雨飘摇之中，当时46岁的“范云梯”出任崖州知州，苦心经营海南岛这快不毛之地。一天巡边至此看见惊涛之中一根石柱顶天立地，心潮澎湃，感慨万千。有道是，“国家兴旺，匹夫有责”。意到笔到，“南天一柱”四个大字一挥而就。只见字体端庄，雄浑有力，笔记饱满，言近旨远。完全是浑然天成。
远古先民的“地方天圆”，认为大地是方形的，故有东南西北的说法，天是圆的，天笼盖着“四方大地”，大地东南西北分别有四跟柱子支撑着天空，如此的南天一拄迎合了人们的地方天圆之说。人们见此“南天一拄”大可不必担心天要塌崩下来。根据中国传统的说，天是圆的，它由地上四个角的四根柱子支撑着，这就是其中的一根柱子的化身，它支撑着南天，让人民安居乐业。除此之外，我认为，它更能代表海南人民坚强、勇敢的性格，是海南人民的象征。
南天一拄独立石磊之中，屹立在南海之滨，奇伟壮观。南天一拄和我们后面要游览的天涯，海角一起构成主题景区的三大景观。1986版的两圆人民币的背面图案采用的就就是这“南天一柱”的风景图。
到了天涯海角，诸位会看见两座巨石，上面分别刻有“天涯”“海角”的字样，这就是我们的目的地。延着沙滩200左右，正前方十多米高的花岗岩小山。就是著名的天涯石刻所在地。雍正十一年，时任中国最南端的崖州太守程哲，一天，路过海湾，一巨石判决海滩路中，构筑天然屏障，岩顶蓝天、高耸天际，青山白云环绕朝向神奇的海风吹来，引发感慨，便题写了“天涯”两个字。距今已有260多年的历史，如今作为旅游景区向游人开放，引人入胜天涯两个字可谓一字连城。

朋友们,现在我们乘车前往天子山自然保护区。天子山，海拔1262.5米，因当地土家族领袖向大坤被军拥为“向王天子”而得名。天子山为台地地貌，中间高，四周低，因而视野开阔，透视线长，层次分明，气势雄浑。天子山观景，与黄石寨、金鞭溪的感觉不同。游黄石寨，您是与群峰对坐，与群峰平视;游金鞭溪，您是“人在画图中”仰视高耸于溪两岸的群峰;而在天子山，则可俯视大千世界，您会生出“山上无山我独尊”的无限豪情。天子山有四大奇观：峰林、云海、日出、冬雪。一幅幅雄伟壮观、奇特迷人的景象，相信会让大家大饱眼福而流边忘返。
(松子岗)这里就是袁家界。前方那片台地叫松子岗，传说当年向王天子建天子国，最初的城址就在这里。后来才选在水绕四门，于是这里就成了向王天子的第二故都。
分地方如黄石寨、腰子寨等处仍保留原来的台地风貌，大多数已在水流切割、浸蚀风化、崩落作用下，变成众多的石峰。索溪峪这一带，许多地方砂岩岩峰的密度大大削减了，有的地方已夷为平地，保留下来的山峰脚较大，这些都表明其发育期已进入老龄阶段。天子山则不同。天子山为台地地貌，分上下两层，上层在800米以上，是二叠纪泥质石灰岩，800米以下则是泥盆纪的石英砂岩。由于砂岩垂直节理发育，加之外张力的长期作用，从而出现两侧壁立的峡谷和板状石峰，再由板状石峰断裂崩塌形成仙人桥、南天门之类的石门、石桥，同时还形成许多半岛式的小湾，有的“半岛”伸出100多米，成为视野开阔天然观景台，并构成曲曲折折的壁岸线。
从模型图上我们看到，除了形成砂岩峰林的部分，还有大量砂岩山体在沉睡之中，期待着漫长的岁月之刀，慢慢把它们镂刻成未来的砂岩峰林。因此，也许我们中有人曾冒出过这些峰林有朝一日如果都倒塌了该怎么办的耽心，那么，现在我们就可以舒一口长气了。资源丰富得很呢，后备力量充分得很呢!概括起来说，根据流水浸蚀地貌的发展规律，其峰林将会向天子山台地和其他分水岭方向迁移，天子山顶部残留的二叠纪石灰剥去后，变成块块方山和根根峰柱，而张家界、索溪峪等地的峰林将成低矮残丘，使整个地貌进入老年期。但这一过程是十分缓慢的，如果没有突发性灾难的毁灭性袭击，这里的石英砂岩峰林地貌在宏观上面临一个稳定的演化进程。
朋友们，天子山之行已经结束，现在，有三条路可供大家选择：一是乘索道下山，二是走卧龙岭下十里画廊，三是走南天门。南天门可是大自然一绝，离乘车点也较近。

索溪峪的名字，是土家话翻译过来的，这三个字寓意为：(suo)雾，(xi)大，(yu)山庄，连起来是：“雾大的山庄”。
索溪峪位于武陵源风景名胜区，总面积为25400公顷。景区呈现盆状，四周高，中间低，山，丘，川并存，峰洞，湖具备。峰秀、谷幽、水碧、洞奥为其景观的主要特征。现已开发小景区8个，即：西海峰林、十里画廊、水绕四门、百丈峡、宝峰湖、黄龙洞，一线天，一共约300多个景点。
索溪峪的景观，以山水为依托。不仅山奇、水秀，而且桥险、洞幽。由于处于砂岩与石灰岩交接处和峰林地貌比较发育，索溪峪的山没有张家界那么峭峻，但却也巍巍层列。站在索溪镇或进入“十里画廊”、“西海峰林”等观景区，只见深沟幽谷中的石峰，一座簇拥着一座，绵延一、二十里，尤如一幅水墨长卷，煞是壮观。幽深中带着恬淡，粗犷中含着娇媚，给人以心旷神怡之感。
索溪峪水，也有另一番风韵，神堂湾潜流飞瀑，一泻直下。素有“人间瑶池”美称的高峡平湖宝峰湖，湖光潋艳，波平如镜。湖崖峰峦高耸，湖内群山倒映。还有无数汩汩小溪，一年四季，常流不息，淅沥叮咚之声，不绝于耳，信步漫游，悠然自得，情趣盎然。

这是我们沿海滩遇到的一个石刻，上面刻有“海判南天”，判在这里是什么意思呢?判为分开、分离、分辨的意思，可以认为南海与南天在此分开。如果我们一起背对着这块巨石，面朝着南还就能领悟到，也可以说大海把带和南天，隔开或分开。是否，也可以如此理解：大地，大海，和南天在此分开同时也是在此汇合。我们在回过头看看，这是谁题写的呢?是清康熙53年钦差大臣苗曹汤，巡边至此题刻，这时候天涯海角风景区目前发现的最早石刻。
往前走不出二十米米，在海边的一块巨石，就是举世文明的“南天一柱”。石刻，“南天一柱” 的上款刻着，宣统元年四个小字，下款刻的是，“永安范云梯”字样。“宣统元年”也就是“公元1920xx年”，永安是地名，经考证是指“永安州”，也就是现在的广西贺州地区的锰山县。“范云梯” 是“南天一柱” 的题字作者。字步月，永安水窦村人。，出生于清同治二年，“范云梯”在海南为官前后十八年，宣统元年晚清朝廷腐败无能。外国列强纷至沓来，共同瓜分中国清朝处在内外交困，危机四伏，风雨飘摇之中，当时46岁的“范云梯”出任崖州知州，苦心经营海南岛这快不毛之地。一天巡边至此看见惊涛之中一根石柱顶天立地，心潮澎湃，感慨万千。有道是，“国家兴旺，匹夫有责”。意到笔到，“南天一柱”四个大字一挥而就。只见字体端庄，雄浑有力，笔记饱满，言近旨远。完全是浑然天成。
远古先民的“地方天圆”，认为大地是方形的，故有东南西北的说法，天是圆的，天笼盖着“四方大地”，大地东南西北分别有四跟柱子支撑着天空，如此的南天一拄迎合了人们的地方天圆之说。人们见此“南天一拄”大可不必担心天要塌崩下来。
南天一拄独立石磊之中，屹立在南海之滨，奇伟壮观。南天一拄和我们后面要游览的天涯，海角一起构成主题景区的三大景观。1986版的两圆人民币的背面图案采用的就就是这“南天一柱”的风景图。
